Counselor in Training (CIT) Program

July 13-22, 2023

The TWM Counselor in Training Program (CIT) is designed for youth ages 13 to 16 who are interested in learning camp skills and growing in Christian leadership.

It is a two-week program designed with an initial three days of training by our full-time staff and then they will be led by the CIT leader to engage in various ways to serve the groups that are in camp. During this time, they will learn specifically how to lead various camp activities, safety protocol, how to frame events, how to care for the groups and be a Christian role-model and leader to youth at camp.

There will also be some activities for just the CIT’s with the goal of teambuilding and instruction. There will also be times of serving the groups and camp in various supervised roles that may include: being a junior counselor in a cabin with kids, helping on maintenance projects, helping setup for an activity or game, running an activity, leading a short devotional, being part of a skit, helping with worship or fun songs (if musically inclined).

The goal of the CIT program is:

  1. To train the youth to be able to be a summer staff the following summer.

  2. To see them grow spiritually.

  3. To have a great two weeks of fun building friendships with the other CIT’s, summer staff, and campers.

There will be a few days off during the two weeks—CIT’s can choose to enjoy hanging at camp during these days or we can coordinate with families for them to have a short break at home.
